Dr. Battino was thrilled in June 2015, when the Supreme Court legalized marriage equality for Americans of every sexual orientation, but she knows that there is still work to do to ensure equality for LGBTQ+ Americans.

Gillian supports the Equality Act, to ensure that no one is discriminated against for their sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity in their workplace, in housing, in federal courts, and more.

As a physician, Gillian provided care to patients of all gender identities, no matter what, and she firmly believes that all people deserve care that recognizes and respects their gender identity. While some states pass bills to target LGBTQ+ people, especially trans people, the U.S. Senate must work to protect all LGBTQ+ people, including in their health care. Additionally, Gillian supports the rights of parents to foster and adopt children, regardless of the parents’ genders.
