Dr. Battino is dedicated to the empowerment and expansion of civil rights for senior citizens and disabled people.

In both her medical practice and in her own family, she recognizes the challenges that senior patients face, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. She also supports seniors’ right to retire with dignity.

Gillian herself is hard of hearing from lifelong moderate hearing loss and tinnitus and wears a hearing aid, and she is the primary guardian of her brother, Tom, who has cerebral palsy. Dr. Battino knows ableism and discrimination toward people with disabilities is often overlooked and adds to the challenges of those living with disabilities.

She stands with the American Association of People with Disabilities and American Association of Retired Persons and will advocate to build a more accessible Wisconsin and nation for all of us.
